Gotta go get Some Fresh Ones

Your best work is inspired by your travels.

  • New ideas.
  • New perspectives.
  • New people.
  • New sights.
  • New sounds.

It’s kinda like a bag of chips.

Snack on the same bag for long enough and eventually they’re gonna get stale.

Daily Numbers

If you had a perfect body, would you weigh yourself every day?

If you had a massively popular blog, would you check your traffic stats every day?

If you had a consistently busy (and profitable) retail store, would you check sales totals every day?

No, no and no.

So while most of us aren’t quite there yet, why not act like we are by forgetting to check daily numbers?

Two Choices on Mondays

When you’re struggling to find inspiration, motivation or purpose in your work, what do you do?

Wallow in your wandering spirits?

Or, do you find ways to inspire, motivate and deliver purpose to others around you?

Yup.

The latter is a win-win.

Because Most People Keep it to Themselves

For every 100 times you make a genuine, positive impact on someone’s life, how many times do you get any recognition?

  • A phone call.
  • A thank you note.
  • A shout-out on social media.
  • A recommendation to friends or family.
  • A hug.

So for every piece of recognition you got, multiply it by a hundred.

Because most people keep it to themselves.

And that’s okay.

You just gotta keep doin’ what you do.

The year of

This.

That.

The other thing.

It’s:

  • Clever.
  • Motivating.
  • Actionable.

What a great alternative to a New Year’s resolution! Or, in business, a strategic plan.

2015 is the year of…

Blank.

Fill it in.

Desert of Dessert

New Year’s is the time to celebrate.

But what really happened? What was accomplished?

Don’t forget to celebrate the accomplishments that don’t come annually (or automatically). Big or small.

Aren’t those accomplishments more deserving of recognition?

Of dessert?

Certifying Uncertifiable Jobs

If you want to be a writer, you have to write. But you also have to call yourself a writer.

Same with a consultant.

Or a speaker.

Or a coach.

Or an artist.

Or a comedian.

Or an entrepreneur.

You can’t get certified.

So…

Do it.

And say it’s what you do.

Then it’s who you are.
